Why go to church?

A church is more than just a building. It is a family of others who will love and support each other and help to meet each other's needs in times of crisis. A church has a pastor who will act as a shepherd protecting the flock (congregation). Jesus has set apart certain individuals to be pastors. The Bible teaches that without a pastor, people will be scattered in their lives. Pastors provide teaching and direction that will help people to live victoriously, and to be a blessing in their family, their community and their world. The main way this is accomplished is by using the God's Word, the Bible, as a reference. Christians believe that the Bible is God 's love letters to them, showing them His love, His promises and His purposes for them. Even if your life is going smoothly, God has a special plan for your life - a plan that only you can fulfill. Going to the "right" church, that is, the church God has led you to, will reveal that plan to you and cause you to fulfill your divine purpose.

How do I find the church God is leading me to?

God has made it simple to discover His will for you. His Word says that those who believe in God can ask for His wisdom and receive it through simple trust. We can merely ask God, in prayer, what church He would like us to attend. He probably won 't reply in an audible voice, but there will be an inner "knowing” in our spirits to take a certain step. This "knowing” is God leading and guiding us by His Holy Spirit. A sense of inner confidence and peace will accompany this step.

What does it mean to be saved?

The Bible speaks of being saved or salvation as a decision that a person makes in order to give their life to God 's Son, Jesus, thereby receiving in return God 's promises to us in the Bible. These include such promises as eternal life in heaven, health and prosperity in every area of our life while we are living on this earth. When we become a Christian, or "saved", the Bible says that we become a new creature in Christ. This means that we are cleansed from the sin in our life and we receive His forgiveness. It is an experience that changes you on the inside, causing you to want to be like Jesus.

Why is it so important that Christians learn what is in the Bible?

The Bible is God's handbook for life. Every creator or inventor makes an instruction book for their product so that those who use it can enjoy the full benefits of it. The Bible is not only wisdom for life and living. It is also the "Last Will and Testament" of Jesus stating benefits that belong to those who believe, those God calls His children. Knowing the Bible means an opportunity to know your purpose in life and your purpose in the Body of Christ. Knowing the Word of God also allows regular people to lead supernatural lives.
